The Five of Spades was distilled in 2000 and bottled in 2008. Originally matured in a hogshead then finished in an American oak refill sherry butt.

One of the best young Hanyu that I have tasted so far. Nose A decent sweetness with sandalwood, almonds and fruity aromas at first nosing. Fruitcake with marzipan. After a while resinous notes are coming up. Very nice nose for such a young whisky. Taste Hot spicy and alcoholic warming from deep inside. It is like chewing raw ginger. Notes of kumquats in the background. Very nice and pleasant. Finish Very long, remaining always pleasant. Spicy, oaky, slightly sour and dry.
