Bricking almost to the ruby center with elegant, still spicy aromas that have gone almost completely secondary in character but with no sous bois lead to rich, round, long, surprisingly complex flavors of excellent length. There is a lovely textured quality to this with a velvety character to the finish and a touch of finishing structure. Like the '81 Beaux Monts (not reviewed here), this transcends the vintage and then some.
