Much more moderate wood influence is present than when I initially reviewed this from 750 ml in 2002 as it frames notably ripe and spicy black cherry fruit that combines with rich, full and flavors that are solidly powerful as they finish with excellent length and a touch of mocha. The wood is by no means invisible and may never fully integrate though there is a lot of buffering extract that should prevent it from drying out over time. In sum, this is a lovely 2000 and in this format should live for years.
