Drunk alongside the Mazis-Chambertin of the same year, the 2003 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru was my favorite of the two, thanks to its livelier, more vibrant aromas of sweet raspberries, rose petals, musk and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, deep and sapid, with melting tannins and a fleshy but far from exaggeratedly ample core of fruit, it's a rare 2003 that might be mistaken for a 2002 in a blind tasting, given its vibrant flavors and classical balance.
