FAQ

Wines

Are these your own stocks?

Yes, all stocks are our own and are immediately available in Hong Kong. Some wines may be in transit, which will be indicated with an estimated arrival date.

What's the provenance of your wines?

Our wines are primarily sourced from reputable European suppliers, with a smaller selection sourced from the US. Our Team meticulously inspect each bottle upon arrival, checking aspects like wine colour and microscopic label details to ensure quality and authenticity. High resolution photos of all items are available for online viewing, giving you peace of mind when purchasing from us.

Can I buy just 1 bottle from the OWC?

OWC stands for Original Wooden Case, and we only sell these wines by the case. Some cases may be banded, and we will keep them banded and unopened unless you request us to open them for you after purchase.

Do you have a store or showroom where your wines can be seen?

To keep our prices competitive, we operate exclusively online without a showroom or physical store. All our wines and whiskies are professionally stored in our cellar and are only moved upon purchase. Our Sales Team responds promptly during office hours to assist with your inquiries.

What is a wine rating?

You may notice a number preceded by an abbreviation (e.g., RP95, CT93) in our listings. These represent rating scores (out of 100) from various professional tasters, reviewers, or wine publications/websites. We display only the highest rating due to space limitations. Wine ratings are subjective and can vary by individual, so please use these as a guide. Many raters provide multiple ratings for a wine over the years, so while we strive to keep these ratings updated, some discrepancies may occur.

Can you take a single photo of all the same bottles together?

Except for original wooden cases (OWCs), for which we take photos of the bottles together, all other loose bottles are photographed individually in high resolution, as this better reflects their conditions.

I noticed you have several bottles of the same wine, and I want to purchase more than one. Can I check the conditions before making my purchase?

Yes. Please contact us via email or WhatsApp, and we will prepare the photos for your reference as soon as possible.

What is your policy on corked wines?

As nearly all of our products are vintage items, we cannot guarantee the drinkability of back vintage bottles. As a responsible merchant, we strive to provide accurate descriptions of the conditions of items in stock. However, these descriptions are intended for reference only and do not account for possible changes in condition while in our cellar.
Please note that we have a no return, no refund policy, even for corked, cooked, oxidized, or taste-defect items, as there are inherent risks when purchasing fine wines and whiskies. To help you make an informed decision, please check the high resolution photos online, as they accurately depict the condition of the bottles.

Can you hold or reserve the bottle for me?

Due to the high volume of requests we receive daily, we are unable to hold or reserve bottles. All bottles are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that title to all products remains with Vintage Grand Cru Limited until payment is made in full.

Local Delivery

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ) for free delivery? If I don't meet this requirement, can I still pay for the delivery fee?

We offer free local delivery in Hong Kong for purchases of 3 bottles or HK$10,000. If your order doesn’t meet this requirement, a delivery fee of HK$150 will apply.

When will I receive my delivery?

For local address, next work-day delivery is available if we receive your payment by 3pm. You can also select your preferred delivery date at checkout, and your order will be delivered by 6pm on that day. For overseas shipment, the date you choose online is the dispatch date. Depending on the final destination and customs clearance process, your actual delivery date may vary.

Can I select a specific delivery time slot?

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer specific delivery time slots at this time due to high volume of orders and varying distances involved.

Do you deliver on weekends or public holidays?

We are closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. However, we can arrange to deliver your order in advance if you plan to enjoy it over the weekend or during holidays.

Can you deliver wines to the hotel/restaurant?

Yes. Please provide us with the reservation details, including the guest’s name and booking number. For a smoother delivery process, kindly notify your hotel or restaurant about your order in advance.

Can I pick up the order at a specific location?

We can arrange for you to collect the order at our office after payment is received, and there are no charges for this service. During checkout, you will be able to select your preferred date and time for collection. Once we receive your order, we will reach out to you via email or WhatsApp with further details.

Can you keep the wines for me and deliver them when I travel to Hong Kong?

We offer complimentary storage for up to six weeks for clients who cannot collect their wines immediately. Once a wine is sold, it is removed from our active inventory and considered a final sale, meaning it cannot be changed or returned, even if it remains with us while you arrange delivery. This policy ensures fair inventory management and our commitment to storing wines for you. Unfortunately, after the complimentary period, we cannot provide any paid storage services, as our cellar is constantly full.

Is there same-day delivery?

If you require same-day delivery (workdays only), please contact us as early as possible, and we will do our best to accommodate your request. If a driver is available, payment must be made before 12pm. Please note that express delivery charges are HK$350.

International Shipping

How long does the shipping take?

Shipping times vary by country, but delivery within Asia typically takes around 1-3 days on average. The timeline can also be affected by customs clearance. The sooner you settle taxes and duties and provide the necessary documents, the quicker the courier can deliver your parcel.

What are the rates of the taxes and duties?

The rates differ by country. We recommend contacting the local authorities for more accurate information. In the rare event you fail to pay any taxes and duties or provide all the necessary documents by the clearance deadline, we will not be held responsible, and the wines may be destroyed by customs at the destination. There will be no refund or exchange.

Is there any temperature control during transportation?

Once the parcel is dispatched, DHL cannot maintain a consistent temperature during transit. To minimize handling time and reduce the risk of the parcel being stored at a DHL warehouse over the weekend, we recommend dispatching the parcel from Monday to Wednesday.

Does the shipping include insurance?

The amount you pay to us only covers the bottle value and delivery cost, excluding insurance. If damage occurs during transit with DHL or other partners, compensation for damages is subject to the delivery partner's policies, which typically offer minimal coverage. Vintage Grand Cru is not liable for any compensation for such damages

How do you pack the wines?

The wines are packed securely in styrofoam boxes. For larger sizes, such as magnum bottles and champagnes, or when styrofoam boxes are unavailable, we use alternative protective materials suitable for air travel, such as air bubble bags or column bags for packaging.

Payment

What payments do you accept?

We accept bank transfers, FPS, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, UnionPay, WeChat Pay, and Alipay. A 3% fee applies to credit card transactions, while a 1% fee applies to WeChat Pay and Alipay for all products. Please note that the credit card limit is HK$50,000, which applies to the cumulative total of all purchases made by a single customer. This limit includes surcharges and is enforced per calendar month and within any rolling 30-day period.

Can I pay by debit card?

Yes, you can pay using a debit card. Please note that the 3% surcharge applies to all card transactions.

Do you accept cash/cheque on delivery?

We do not accept cash or cheque on delivery. If you wish to use a cheque, please deposit it into our bank account beforehand. Kindly allow extra processing time for the cheque to clear. Delivery will be arranged after payment is received.

What should I do after making payment via bank transfer, FPS, or international wire?

After making the payment, please provide us with a copy of the wiring slip or a screenshot of the transaction for confirmation. This will allow us to promptly follow up on your order. Since international wiring may require additional workdays for clearance, which could delay the delivery, please ensure you allow sufficient time for it to be processed.

Can you offer me a better price?

Unlike retail shops that have higher margins, most of our clients are trade customers, and we list our trade prices across all channels. This allows us to maintain competitive pricing with limited room for discounts.
