What to expect from this Haut Brion Blanc from one of the worst years in Bordeaux history. Bleached and scuffed label, ullage 6cm below cork. But this a very pleasant wine; nose was very reminiscent of a white Ermitage, a little pleasant oxydation in the nose as well as some flowery and herbal notes as well as citrus, lemon, peach and pineapple. After one hour, nose and taste became more intense, denser. Oxydative notes disappeared and the wine further improved. After two hours wine gets even fatter and more complex and is developing into a top wine! At €100 per bottle last year at Christies Amsterdam, this must be the cheapest drinkable Haut Brion Blanc ever. If one can find it.... Nice surprise!
