The 2014 Musigny Grand Cru taken from the full barrel, not the feuillette, which is how much Christophe Roumier has this year. It has a crisp, mineral bouquet with black fruit, and there is a touch of graphite developing with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, with the oak showing a bit more here than the Amoureuses; it is quite powerful and dense on the finish, with a touch of white pepper and dried blood on the aftertaste. Of course, it is a very fine Musigny, although I suspect that the Bonnes-Mares and the Les Amoureuses 2014 may ultimately bestow more pleasure. But hey, are you really going to turn it down if someone offers you a glass?
