Popped this on my dad's 60th birthday! The wine is clear, day bright, garnet in the centre which fades into a hint of orange on the rim. The colour has a medium concentration with noticeable rim variation at the meniscus. No gas or sediment. Medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is clean, moderate, considerably aged but still quite vibrant, displaying an elegant profile of red fruits - red cherries, cranberries, pomegranate, and hints of orange peel, coupled with a distinct note of graphite and pencil shavings, earth, herbs, and hints of chocolate. Oak is subtle and very well integrated. On the palate, the wine is dry, so delicate, crisp, and very clean, medium bodied. Remarkable elegance. Red fruits embrace the palate, showing slightly sour red cherries, cranberries, pomegranate, and a hint of tangerine. Tertiary notes. Lovely graphite, earth, and a hint of milk chocolate unfold, ending with some green herbs and possibly barnyard on the finish. Oak is subtle and very well integrated. Very fine wine, flavours are so subtle, harmonious, and balanced. Pinot like. Acidity is surprisingly medium+, alcohol is medium-, tannins are medium-, and the finish is medium+. I would say the complexity is high. Thoroughly enjoyed this!
