This has a surprisingly mature, not over-mature nose with a tangible, quite pungent note of boiled cabbage just lurking in the background, although not intense enough for me to describe it as malodorous. Mixed with that, leather, wild mushrooms and the vestiges of fruit, cherry and redcurrants. Soft entry on the medium-bodied palate, just a touch of volatility standing in the wing ready to take centre stage in the not too distant future. A little loose-knit, not great depth and yet it somehow has bags of charm. Quite sharp on the tart finish. Drink now. Perhaps a wine that shows the limitations of Echezeaux rather than the winemaker?
