High toned berries, mineral infused earth and herbal tones on the nose. Lovely mature pinot aromas. Nice density on the palate. Lively mid-palate with the acidity streaking through. Finishes slightly firm and rustic, and a tad unresolved. But overall laser sharp, with enough fruit purity and weight to keep it all moving in the right direction. For a 20 year old Savigny les Beaunes from an unheralded vintage - this is extremely impressive. For Leroy, it’s not like the modern era, but it’s still rock and roll for what it is.
