This remains a problematic wine as too many bottles display unacceptable levels of brett and when I say unacceptable I mean that the wine is basically undrinkable. Somewhat curiously not all bottles are affected and when the wine is clean this can be a genuinely great effort. The following note is from a clean example: the highly expressive nose is still showing incredibly ripe (but not roasted) blueberry, blackberry and cassis-infused aromas that lead to concentrated, powerful, intense and gorgeously sappy big-bodied flavors that are supported by mouth coating tannins on the exquisitely well-balanced finale. This has that certain "presence" that all great wines have and overall this is a Bonnes Mares that should age and improve for a long, long time.
