A wonderfully complex nose of Asian spices and warm earth introduces rich, long, deep and intense broad-scaled flavors that deliver stunning length while being supported by notably firm but ripe tannins undernearth the velvety veneer.. This is surprisingly accessible for a '96 grand cru and while hardly low in acid, it is not nearly as reserved as many wines from this vintage though I personally would continue to cellar it for a few more years. In sum, this is a simply wonderful effort that should drink well for a long time to come. Multiple, and consistent, notes.
