Pungent aromas of wood toast, reduction, spice and a touch of the exotic introduce impressively rich (especially for the vintage) medium weight flavors that brim with minerality as well as sappy dry extract before culminating in a long, powerful and highly complex finale. This is an atypical 2004 as it's notably riper and richer and if perhaps a bit oaky, at least for my preferences, it's nonetheless impressive. I would further note that this has reached its apogree though it should have no trouble continuing to hold for at least another decade, perhaps even a bit longer. Tasted twice with consistent notes.
