Superb - and kept getting better through the night. Golden yellow colour, with flecks of green hinting at relative youth. nose was a little funky at first, with notes of damp moss, sous nois, earth and truffly mushrooms undergirded with savoury white meat touches. With time, creamy, buttery notes came to the fore, along with honey, flowery musk, ripe kumquats and deep, deep white fruit notes. In true Bouchard style though, not showy, just extremely complex and impressive. I could say the same thing about the palate. Perfect balance, a nice round feel, great clean, precise flavours - so much so that the wine, with all its concentration, actually seemed quite weightles. There were still hints of vanilla and oaky toast around, but these had started to become very integrated with touches of fresh cream and butter, chrysanthemum flowers, caramel apples and aged honey notes. Intensity drops a little on the finish, with more vanilla showing, but there was more than enough strength for ripe lemon flavours to go on lingering in the mouth for a long time. An excellent wine which will get much better with time. 94+
