WITH WATER Not much change with water just a bit softer on the palate but also more bitterness. This is one of them grumbling old sherry monsters that in parts is really good but the age of the cask and wood influence has took its toll a little. It lingers long in the mouth, certainly an experience but not in the outstanding class which it should be for the price it is. Nose This one is very dark so I am expecting it to be rich. Massive sherry on stewed prunes, rich treacle, ripe plum, plum sauce, blackberry and dark chocolate. A little strawberry after time in the glass, Taste Chewy and quite bitter initially with a load of liquorice and the obvious woodiness at this age. There is also something like putty or rubber but it is very hard to define. It is also very waxy on the tongue and palate then some very faint orange notes appear mixed in with very dark treacle. There is also some cigar smoke and burnt wood. Finish Not as long as expected but medium length, smooth and a little dry.
