Initially this was notably restrained and required some 20 minutes to really get going with its beautifully layered array of citrus, white flowers, pear, soft wood and subtle spice nuances. The sleek and sophisticated medium-bodied flavors possess ample minerality and excellent vibrancy along with impressive depth on the focused finale that really fans out as it sits on the palate. This is a more modestly-scaled Montrachet of finesse and refinement rather than power and muscle. For my taste it is just now knocking on the front door of its prime maturity though I underscore that it could easily be held for years to come. In sum, this is an understated Montrachet of class and grace.
