shared this with pat, ellen and mahesh at selkirk manor. celebrating pat's birthday as well as ellen and mahesh moving from brooklyn back to staten island. this experience illustrates the danger of holding on to special bottles for special occasions. in this instance, i continue to believe that the wine would have been more enjoyable a few years ago. this time around, i became aware of the almond and smoke described in the christie's tasting note of 2005. the luscious fruit that was so enjoyable on release is hard to discern at this time. older vintages of this wine are still being consumed in asia so i assume that this style is appealing to some. for me, at this price point, i don't want to have to struggle to find endearing qualities. i will say that the taste experience was unique.
