This hadn't come my way since 2004 and initially there was fairly heavy reduction present yet, like magic, 20 minutes in a decanter dissipated the funk to reveal elegant and perfumed aromas of cool sous-bois, earth, spice and especially anise, along with a hint of game. There is good size, weight and power to the vibrant medium weight plus flavors that flash excellent minerality and delineation on the balanced if mildly austere finale that goes on and on. Be sure to give this some air first as the transformation was remarkable. In sum, this is a deep, stylish and classy wine that should live for decades. One of the wines of the vintage.
