Medium red in color. Very deep and wide typical Leroy nose, lots of red flowers and spices. Medium plus palate that is very well balanced but doesnt seem to have the depth of the nose, quite long finish. Drinking well now, very good rather than great.

The '95 Clos de la Roche is a full on sensory assault with its gamey, earthy and softly perfumed, incredibly seductive black pinot fruit that leads to deep yet finely textured, powerful, wonderfully sappy flavors of such mouth coating richness and length that one cannot help but be moved. However it is an open question as to whether all of this drama in the glass will appeal to everyone or not because if there is a nit, it's that this is so structured and powerful that is could be accused of lacking grace. In short, this is a serious, firmly structured, dense wine of magnificent proportions that will live for years but a wine with a sufficiently particular style that it may not appeal to everyone.
