Initially this was quite closed and required the better part of 30 minutes to open and even then it remained subdued though by no means mute as there is excellent complexity to the restrained and fully mature aromas that offer an attractive spiciness and no sous bois at this point. There is good power and plenty of mid-palate concentration to the intense, mineral-driven and utterly delicious flavors that mirror to an extent the reserve of the nose on the palate though the finish is long, refined, velvety and well-balanced as it fans out on the finish. This is an understated Musigny of class and grace plus it has plenty of staying power left, such that it should still be in fine shape 20 years from now.
