Allowed to breathe in bottle and glass for an hour. Clear deep garnet color. Initial savory notes blew off to reveal a lovely traditional bouquet of mixed red and black fruits and their liqueurs; violets and roses, hints of truffles, cigar ash and stony soil. Silk-satin mouthfeel, medium-full body, seamless, polished, excellent balance. Another taster commented that this had a short clipped finish, not surprising for the challenging vintage. Outstanding nonetheless.

Undoubtedly a success for the vintage, this immensely charming, dark ruby/purple-colored wine exhibits floral, black currant, and smoky, toasty oak aromas. There is admirable richness, excellent ripeness, not a great deal of density, or superb concentration, but plenty of finesse, suppleness, and character. It can be drunk young, or cellared for 12-15 years.
