An airy, spicy, lacy and still very fresh nose reveals moderately secondary development (though no tertiary notes) that adds to the sense of complexity. The linear and notably precise medium weight flavors display much better fruit/acid/tannin balance than do many '96s today while culminating in a clean, cool and vibrant finish. I like the solid sense of mid-palate concentration and as such, there is no "hole in the middle" the way some of the less concentrated '96s carry themselves. I should further note that while the acidity is bright and certainly present on the backend it stops just short of being clipped. A lovely if not truly brilliant effort that for my taste has all but arrived at its full maturity.
