Like several of the DRC '98s, the appearance is somewhat cloudy. There is a hint of funk to the otherwise spicy dark berry fruit aromas that are displaying noticeable secondary development. By contrast there is no such issue with the still robust and muscular flavors that possess good if not special complexity on the still moderately structured finale. While there are still noticeable tannins in evidence I would be inclined to be drinking this up over the next decade as I am concerned that the nose may become less attractive with extended bottle age.
