Tasted blind at The Arches in London. Mature colour, with a wide mahogany rim. The bouquet is quite alluring, although there is a decayed, leafy quality about it. A touch of raspberry leaf, autumn leaves and a very slight hint of wild mint, although with time in glass it begins to coalesce and offer mulberry/briary scents. The palate is medium-bodied, quite earthy on the entry, rather conservative overall: this is a Pinot that does not desire too much attention. Once again there are notes of mulberry, a little pepper, nice persistency but resolutely linear and the finish is rather “sulky”. But there is still something quite entrancing about it, despite its modest failings.
