Deep ruby-purple. A markedly ripe yet still reasonably fresh and highly spiced nose features notes of poached plum and cassis with violet and rose petal top notes. There is outstanding mid-palate density to the overtly powerful and sappy larger-scaled flavors that deliver incredible length on the robust, compact and impressively persistent finish. There is a touch of warmth but overall, the 2018 RC manages to be quite serious while remaining a wine of harmony and grace. This too is packed with potential, but I would again suggest that it best be forgotten for the next 25+ years, at least if you wish to see it at its peak!
