Producer note: Jacques Seysses described the 2007 vintage as having a "very early flowering with good early season weather that was unfortunately largely undone by a poor and wet summer. The second half of August however was very fine and we began picking on September 1st. It was necessary to do a severe sorting and as a result, we had a very small harvest. Sugars ranged from 12 to 13% but we had reasonably good phenolic ripeness thanks mainly to all of the old vines that we now have. In fact, I would go so far as to say that old vines were probably the most important qualitative determinant outside of the basic requirements of doing good vineyard work, proper sorting, etc. Destemming ranged from 0 to 30% so all the wines have a good percentage of stems in them. In terms of vinification, we did out best to preserve the natural elegance and finesse of the vintage. Overall, the vintage reminds me of 2000, which gave generous, ripe and round wines meant for early to mid-term drinking." I think consumers will like them very much, just as consumers have praised the 2000s." The Dujac 2007s are very much representative of the vintage as a whole, which is to say that it strongly favored old vines and the best expositions and while it's true that the grands crus virtually always produce the best wines, it is especially true in 2007. As to the Dujac 2006s, they have turned out to be lovely wines that are a bit riper if not quite as elegant as their 2007 counterparts Tasting note: A subtle touch of wood spice sets off beautifully spiced and pure black, red and blue fruit aromas that broaden to include violets and rose petal plus a host of Asian spices that continue onto the delicious, seductive and palate coating flavors that possess excellent depth on the refined and Zen-like finish. This is a really lovely effort that clearly conveys the class of one of the very best grands crus.
