The Macallan Exceptional Casks series was relaunched in 2017. The range takes its name from a number of single cask bottlings Macallan released during the 1990s, which are often described as some of "the greatest Macallan of them all."

Distilled on the 20th October 1997 and laid to rest in a refill American sherry hogshead cask (Ref: 2018/ASH-14813/12) before being bottled on 15th October 2018..

Selected by Macallan Whisky Maker Sarah Burgess, this was the twelfth cask to be reserved for the 2018 batch of releases.
