I hadn't tried this since 2003 and time has done its magic as the once pale yellow color with green tinges has turned to medium gold. There is plenty of secondary character (though no sous-bois) to the gorgeous complex aromas that exhibit ample citrus and a distinct mineral component. There is excellent punch to the strikingly well-delineated, complex and chiseled medium-weight flavors that deliver excellent finishing intensity and persistence. Like most '96s this is not an especially dense wine but is rather built along the lines of harmony, balance and finesse yet endowed with stunning elegance and persistence. While completely ready now note that his should live for decades.
