I have had several distinctly different experiences with this wine as some display the less interesting sides of the '96 vintage in that while the now fully mature nose is quite lovely, the flavors are a bit thin and the intrinsically bright acidity leans out the finish. By contrast, better bottles seem much better balanced though in neither case are the flavors especially dense. In my view, this has seen its best days and while the still noticeable acid spine will keep this alive for years to come, I don't see the balance improving from here so I would be inclined to drink up. I would add that the last bottle was bought on release and came from pristine storage so poor condition was not an issue.
