Turning the big 4-0 so popped a few birth-year bottles! This bottle of 1980 Mouton was pristine with a base-neck fill and a cork that was only saturated about half way up. Nice red fruit and leather aromatics on pnp that became more pronounced with air. On the palate this was grest, with distinct and harmonious notes of tobacco, iron, leather, and dark fruits, with a semi-long, smokey finish. Really nice medium bodied mouth-feel and plenty of acidity, with the tannins almost fully integrated. I was looking forward to this and it did not disappoint. As always....extra point for being a birth-year wine :)
