Decent - it took awhile to get going, but showed quite nicely after a little while in the glass. There was a worryingly balsamic note that dominated the nose at first pour, only yielding slowly to more familiar scents of sour cherries, some fresh herbs, a bit of spice and a whiff of tobacco. Clearly in its dotage, but still pretty nice. On to the palate. Still very fresh, but fruit had gone down a bit, leaving a light layer of sweet dark cherry fruit wed to undertones of chocolate, tobacco and woody spice framed by a little screen of tannins and whiff of sandlewood at the finish. Not altogether yummy, but with time, it opened up quite wonderfully into a lovely melting mouthful of plums and tobacco on the mid-palate, showing perhaps more Merlot than Cab at this stage for some reason or another. This might have been better say five years ago, but it still gave a lot of pleasure even so. High time to drink up.
